The short version

  • We only collect what you choose to send us when you call, email or use the quote form.
  • We use it to reply to you, quote for work and deliver the job.
  • We never sell your details or use them for unrelated marketing.
  • This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your details at any time: email phellan@ratwork.co.uk.

Who we are

This website is run by Rope Access Technician Work Ltd, trading as RAT Work (company number 15148075). We are the “controller” of the personal information described here. You can contact us about privacy at phellan@ratwork.co.uk or on 07724 093140.

What we collect

When you contact us

When you call, email, or send a quote request, we receive whatever you give us. That’s usually your name, company, phone number or email address, the site location, details of the job, and any photos or documents you send.

The quote form on this website doesn’t send anything to the website. It opens your own email app with the details filled in, and nothing reaches us unless you press send. The website doesn’t store what you type.

Technique days, partnerships and the app

If you ask about a technique day or a scaffolding netting partnership, we’ll hold your contact details and anything relevant you tell us, such as your IRATA level or your company. The RAT Work app has its own privacy policy, which you can read in the app.

When you visit this website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it doesn’t load any third-party scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and working.

How we use your information, and why we’re allowed to

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote: this is a step you’ve asked for before a contract, or it’s in our legitimate interest to answer business enquiries.
  • To plan and deliver the work, including RAMS, site records and completion paperwork: this is needed to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep records the law requires, for example health and safety, insurance, accounting and tax records: this is a legal obligation.
  • To run and protect our business, for example keeping the website secure: this is in our legitimate interests.

We don’t use your information for automated decision-making, and we won’t send you marketing you haven’t asked for.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent your information. We only share it where we need to:

  • with the companies that provide our email, phone, IT and website hosting, who handle it on our instructions
  • with our professional advisers, insurers and accountants, where needed
  • with principal contractors or site owners, where the job requires it (for example on site paperwork)
  • where the law requires us to

Some of these providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it. Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted after a reasonable period. Records of work we’ve carried out are kept for as long as the law, our insurers and our contracts require, which for health and safety and contract records can be several years.

Keeping it safe

We use reputable providers and keep access to personal information to the people who need it to do their job.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it. You can also ask for information you gave us in a portable format. There’s normally no charge, and we’ll reply within one month.

To use any of these rights, email phellan@ratwork.co.uk or call 07724 093140.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
